We have had a weekend of lovely visitors with Caroline demonstrating her eco printing techniques ….

Today, Consuelo is demonstrating her tapestry weaving , Lynn is demonstrating her hand quilting and Susan will be in the studio demonstrating her machine skills in life drawing.

Hampshire Open Studios

All set up and ready to go … do come and meet Room 6 and their work for sale as part of Hampshire Open Studios…NUMBER 107 IN THE BOOK

We are at The Granary, Owslebury Farm, Main Road, Owslebury, SO21 1LU, so you can visit to see our teaching facility from which we have a programme of workshops and courses

This is located opposite the church right in the middle of Owslebury, if it ever stops raining today, there will be bunting along our front hedge… you can park in the drive (three cars) and on the street…the main studio is accessible for wheelchairs, but two steps up for the rest of the display, and the loo.

OPENING HOURS ….. 20, 21, 22 August, 10am – 5pm    AND  25 – 29 August 10am – 5pm

Please note we are closed on the middle Tuesday and Wednesday

All of us have work on sale, we are also demonstrating our methods, and there is a second hand book sale….

There is tea, coffee and cake …and lots of friendly faces

Autumn Classes

The Autumn programme of classes is up on the website here, just click on the button classes across the top of the home page and you will be taken to the classes that are being offered this autumn/winter… I will be adding more as we go along , but , I have got this together because I am off to the festival of quilts tomorrow.. I will have my leaflets there so, if you are interested, contact me quickly …. i will take waiting lists for all the classes and offer further classes where i can…

i will be on stand QIA24 and also demonstrating on Art Van Go’s Artist in Action stand at the back of their main stand

you need to bring any silk or chiffon scarves , and lunch … and energy …. between Clare and I we have more or less everything, but there is a requirements list if you click on the course code on the website … www.granarystudio.com

space on eco-stitching

there has been a late cancellation for Caroline Bell’s eco-stitching day on Tuesday this week (12th July)… if you would be interested pls let me know … one space or could squeeze in two if you want to come with a friend …

the day is designed to bring together all the wonderful eco prints and hand stitch into them to produce some beautiful pieces of work

requirements : eco printed fabrics, appropriate threads, hand stitching kit

price £45 for the day, drinks and biscuits included, bring lunch

Busy Times

This is the view from the tenth floor of the new Tate Modern building on the South Bank in London… it is truly amazing and you all must go .. fabuous iconic art pieces, even some textiles .. the Louise Bourgeois room is outstanding …
Now .. back to business!
Caroline Bell ran a masterclass here using Spring leaves and various mordants as well as a fructose Indigo Vat.. with great results.. she will run another masterclass next year…. meanwhile she is running an Eco stitch day next month so that students can use their beautiful cloths… she is also running another Autumn Eco 2 day class in September …
IN THE PIPELINE…. Caroline may run a 4-6 session hand stitching course in the winter, when there are no leaves about… those that know her work, do know how exquisite her hand stitching is … let me know if you are interested
Caroline has been co-organising an exhibition ‘From the Earth Textiles’ which is open for a month at the Mardlebury Gallery near Art Van Go, and also a series of workshops held at Art Van Go, see details below
I went to  the PV on Friday night and it is well worth the visit
Saw Clare Bullock up at the ‘From the Earth Textiles’ exhibition and she is really looking forward to teaching at the Granary Studio. This image shows my delightful needle case made by Clare, just to whet your appetite..
The Procion and Process courses are going apace ..
the Saturday group are hurtling towards the end of the year … only two more sessions left ….
..I am taking names now for the restart in either October or February .. two of the spaces are already gone, so, if you are interested please do not leave it too long before contacting me … I only take 4 in each group…
Also I am starting an independent study group with a couple of names already on the list, so please do get in touch if you are hoping to join this group

I am negotiating with the lovely Amanda Hislop to come and teach at the Granary Studio… I have all her details, just need to settle on which workshops and the dates.

larder fridge

Hi everyone .. just wondering if anyone is re-modelling their kitchens and are disposing of a working larder fridge …. that is a tall fridge with no freezer compartments … now the weather is getting warmer I need storage for my dye paints to preserve their life ….
