Textured Landscapes – Layer, Paint and Stitch

Description                   

Textured Landscapes offers students the chance to develop a combination of skills in a creative way.  Applied fabrics, fabric painting, textural mediums and freehand machine embroidery will be combined to create textured surfaces. Fabrics will be pieced, patched, layered and textured, then worked into with paint and machine embroidery as you interpret a landscape image in textiles.

Payment

Textured Landscapes fee is £180. You should pay the deposit of £90 to secure your place. On receipt of the deposit you will receive a confirmation email.

Resources

Sewing machine with darning foot, Extension table (if you have one)

Fabrics – Selection of plain, un-dyed, pre-washed natural fabrics, e.g. cotton, calico,
muslin, scrim, linen, silk, ideally varying in texture and tone

Fabric Stabiliser – Stitch ‘n Tear or sew-in Vilene

Bondaweb/transfer adhesive (small amount)

Threads – White cotton machine thread, coloured machine threads

Scissors, Pins/ machine needles (90/14)

Pencil/Paper/Tracing paper / Masking Tape / Glue Stick

Coloured papers for design – tissue paper, sugar paper, magazine clippings

Overall/shirt for painting

Images of simple landscapes or seascapes

Materials Fee-£3.00 for use of fabric paint and textural mediums

There are two Bernina 1008’s in the studio that can be reserved for use if any one is struggling to get hold of an appropriate machine

Don’t forget your lunch as there is no shop in the village ..Teas, Coffee and biscuits are available throughout the day
