Machine Embroidery Inspired by Gustav Klimt £175

Enjoy two days exploring the patterns and colours in the work of Gustav Klimt. You will be layering fabrics, machine stitching and then burning away areas with a soldering iron. Gold and Silver leaf (imitation) will be applied to areas of the design
Below is a list of materials for the course.
SEWING MACHINE Any basic domestic sewing machine can be used for freehand machine embroidery. Please bring a darning (freehand embroidery) foot for your machine and an extension table if you have one. Don’t forget your foot pedal and cable!
SELECTION OF SEWING THREADS Sylko, Guterman, Drima, *Madeira rayon, *metallics etc. Bring any you may have but think about colour schemes
FABRICS Suggested size of work approx. A5 – A4
*Calico, or cotton backing fabric.
*Silk dupion or dyed cotton as your base fabric – plain or space dyed is ideal.
*Sheer synthetic organzas.
*Stitch ’n Tear / stabiliser to transfer designs
*Bondaweb (Not Heat ‘n Bond)
SOLDERING IRON with REST If you have one. 18W with a fine point is best.
*GOLD / SILVER LEAF or FOIL
SCISSORS
*SPARE MACHINE NEEDLES (90 /14)
PINS / SEWING NEEDLE / TACKING THREAD
PAPER / TRACING PAPER / PENCIL / BLACK MARKER PEN
