Mixed Media Sketchbooks / Altered Books ***NEW CLASS***
A two day workshop Wed & Thur 29&30 September 2021 10.00-16.00 £180
Developing a sketchbook is not only a useful source of reference for your new ideas and images, but it can become a vital part of your practise as an Artist.
Once it becomes a regular exercise in your practise, it soon takes on a life of its own,somewhere you can work confidently and with abandonment.
Exploring different processes and experimenting with materials to develop images,both to take into your textiles, or finished pages in their own right.
These books soon become Art Pieces, valued for theirselves.
We will cover a range of techniques and procedures that l employ in my sketchbooks.
We will be monoprinting on fabric/ tissue paper and directly into out sketchbooks, using collage…magazines,old photographs,working with oil pastels and paint,inks and pens.
I will bring many of my own books to inspire and inform
Also we will create an Altered book, using a secondhand hardbacked book,again l will have many examples of my own for you to see.
Nearer the workshop date l will send a list of materials and information on the type of second hand book most suited to being altered in to an Artist Book…

Collage, Stitch and Sketchbook
Two day workshop date to be arranged £180
…using lots of simple, achievable exercises , you can start developing ideas and images, with collage, mixed media, Stitch, oil pastels and acrylic paint.
Exploring these ideas and images that you are drawn to, we will play with ways of finding a way into expressing these in your own work.
You will soon have highly original, exciting books, that you can use again and again to develop larger work from…particularly textiles and stitch…
Nuno Felt into Stitch £180
Two day workshop Date to be arranged
We will make pieces of Nuno felt,using fine merino and small pieces of ………..scarves and silk fabric that we have collected….they need to be fine open weave silk,viscose or Cotton scarves..basically natural fibres ..not manmade…
Then on to these pieces will will stitch glorious images,using both hand and machine stitching….playing with ideas developed from sketchbooks, found images and collage….
