Busy times at The Granary Studio
The tutor is having some fun too!
There is a new second group of students now learning on the Procion and Process course. I will take names and details of anyone wanting to attend this or any other course, and, when I have enough people interested, I will start a new group… currently there is a Saturday group who have completed 4 of the ten sessions, and a Sunday group who have just completed their first session. They attend one day a month spread over a year.
Barbara and Kay from the Sunday group are enjoying the design process from their first class
Olive from the Saturday group is learning about using Thermofax screens and scraping backgrounds in the fourth class
Life Drawing isn’t always just about paper and charcoal, here Irene is stitching on the machine direct from the life model
STOP PRESS! Melanie is running a two day class for Beginners Life Drawing
23rd July and 10 Sept, both Saturdays, for more information please click the classes button on this website or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
There are still spaces on Lynns new stitching classes starting 21st April Slow Stitching, exploring all things hand stitched…and 2nd June Modern Quilting, the brand new trend in patchwork and quilting, click the classes button on this website or email at email@example.com
There is just one space left or maybe two at a squeeze on Carolines Spring Eco-Printing course in April, and two on the May Masterclass weekend
hope to see you all at the Granary Studio soon!

Sadly we have had to cancel the dressmaking for this term as the numbers are too low. We will offer this again after Christmas in the spring to see if we can enrol a full class. Will get back with dates ASAP
Hi everyone … just back from the carrefour Du Patchwork in Ste Marie aux Mines in Alsace, France where I had an exhibition with the group ArtQuiltFusion… here my friend Paulo took a photograph of me in front of my self portrait .. it is a fabulous exhbition and well worth visiting … do look up the details
These are wooden quilts! Fraser Smith from Florida makes them from planks of wood… he carves them and paints them ..we had to get him to knock on the wood because we couldn’t believe they were not fabric, amazing
Welcome to the new term at the Granary …. we have lots on offer for you and still some spaces on some of the classes….
The day-a-month Procion and process course is now full but I have spaces to run a second group on the Friday. This is advertised as Independent study, but… I can teach procion and process alongside independent study because the groups are so small .. it may be that Friday is better for you anyway …. the studio is well equiped for the work with procion dye so do come and join us on the first Friday in the month too…alternatively if you have some experience, then use theses sessions as independent study I do not mind which you require.
There is still space on the dressmaking classes which start on the 1st October, every Thursday until 10 December. There are two sessions either 14.30 – 17.30 or 18.30 – 21.30…
Life Drawing clases are now full until after Xmas, but I am negotiating with Mel for some dates in the spring term and I will get them to you ASAP.
Caroline’s Eco dyeing fabric classes on 21 and 28 october will both run but there is the odd space on each of them …. and there are spaces on her eco dyeing paper class on wed 14 th oct 10.00-1600
There are also a number of patchwork classes , both regular classes and one off dayschools all of which have spaces on them ….
If you are interested in any of these classes then please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone on 01962 777480, do visit http://www.granarystudio.com for more information about any of our courses… if you click on the ‘courses’ button and then click on the course codes you will be transferred to the appropriate course information sheet
hope to see you somewhere on one of our courses
Finally, we are considering running city and guilds in Patchwork and Quilting here at the Granary, probably starting in January, please contact us if you would be interested… the classes at eastleigh College are not running this year because they need such large numbers to be viable.
We have spaces on the following two courses in June/July
Saturday 4th July ….. a taster session for Life Drawing from 4pm until 6.30 ..
If you have ever fancied trying a life drawing class then please do come along to this taster session. The tutor is Melanie Rose and she is brilliant… it is a pre cursor to her 6 week courses starting 2nd September, one of which is already full! But there are spaces on the earlier session at the moment
13-17 July … Summer School titled ‘Interpretation and Inspiration’
Not designed for beginners, this course will challenge students in their process from observation through design and on into printing/dyeing and finally stitch
hurray, the studio is open, lots of visitors, who seemed to love the amazing studio space…lots of sign ups to courses too… now it all begins!
