Classes have finally resarted at the Granary Studio, hopefully there will be no more stops along the way. Although my own classes will not restart until September, we are runing a series of classes tutored by Caroline Bell. We kicked of with two days of The Magic of Indigo and some wonderful fabrics were created, using various techniques with clamps, stitch and overdyeing , with a bit of rust play included. we have continued with a couple of introduction to eco printing classes and Caroline concludes wih a masterclass in July..
There are spaces on Jenny O’Leary’s Contemporary Batik class based on Landscape in July, and Stewart Kelly’s masterclass still has a couple of spaces left in August
Debbie Lyddon is returning to the studio in September to start off the new programme of classes by teaching her wonderful 4 day experience… Exploring Place… it is a fabulous workshop and students have told me that these 4 days have changed their creative outlook for ever, there are still a couple of spaces on that so let me know soon if you re interested
Sue Dove also returns in September to teach her mixed media sketchbook and altered book class, along with the restart of my year long classes.. there are still spaces on Sues class, and my design challenges for textiles class … I am also starting a brand new course titled Using Sketchbooks which has a couple of spaces left…

hooray, I plan to re-open the studio for classes from the beginning of May… at long last, as long as nothing else is happening regarding COVID restrictions… if you click on the classes button within the menu, you will find details of all the upcoming classes by tutor, and the Quick Look will give you a chronological list with an idea of where the spaces are. I have just had three cancellations for the February class taught by Amanda Hislop ‘Abstract Field Patterns’.. it was a full class and I have had to turn away several people who wanted to do the two days thu/fri 7/8 February… so , if you are reading this and you were one of those people who missed out the first time around or you just fancy having a fabulous two days with Amanda Hislop, please do get in touch.. she is a great tutor , working sensitively with the landscape… previous students have really enjoyed their days with her… details are on the information sheet which can be found by clicking on the course code of the classes section of this site… i do hope we can fill this class for Amanda
We have a couple of spaces left for this two day class, called ‘Contemporary Landscape’ with the lovely Clare Bullock… Fri and Sat 5 & 6 october… I am sure you all know what a lovely tutor she is and I would like to fill her class if at all possible. you really only need your lunch and a notebook, but wool fibres and fine fabrics if you have any …Clare brings stuff for sale if not and the studio has a reasonable amount of stuff for students to use …. so, think about it and let me know on 01962 777480, or firstname.lastname@example.org … there are some lovely ladies in Owslebury who do reasonable B and B just for my students…it is £150 for the two days which includes the tuition, the studio resources and tea, coffee and biscuits all day!

We have a cancellation on Amanda Clayton’s class 3/4 September called ‘on the edge, and patching and piecing’.. this is two days with a fabulous tutor, she will introduce you to here methods of creating complex, ethereal fabrics using hand stitch techniques. cost £175 for the two days , please refer to the website for more details
Amanda Hislop ‘taking sketchbooks further’ has a couple of spaces, Amanda will lead you through her ideas of landscape using a commercially bought concertina book, (these are available for sale at the Granary Studio)

Have you been on the eco printing course and generated a pile of samples and are now wondering what to do with them? Rather than leave them lying forgotten in a drawer why don’t you join me for a day of stitching where we can turn them into something decorative or functional.
A fabulous day today using Spring leaves on paper and fabric, everyone achieved brilliant results with what is sometimes a difficult time of the year… some of the leaves we hoped for were still not out because of this recent cold snap… hopefully they will be out for the masterclass in May
There are still a couple of spaces left on the life drawing for beginners days.. two saturdays 16 July and 10 Sept 2016 these are taught classes by the hugely talented Mel Rose, you will learn to draw and work out proportions and much much more

There is a new second group of students now learning on the Procion and Process course. I will take names and details of anyone wanting to attend this or any other course, and, when I have enough people interested, I will start a new group… currently there is a Saturday group who have completed 4 of the ten sessions, and a Sunday group who have just completed their first session. They attend one day a month spread over a year.
Barbara and Kay from the Sunday group are enjoying the design process from their first class
Olive from the Saturday group is learning about using Thermofax screens and scraping backgrounds in the fourth class
