Next week sees the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham … it runs from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th August … the Granary Studio will be there … we have a stand QIA24 where the students will talk to anyone interested in our classes…. I have creaed a book with images and details of the fun we have here, and a glimpse of our tutor team which now numbers 8!… hope to see some of you there, do pop by and say hello

phew… we have had lots of lovely visitors to the Granary to see the work of Room 6 as part of Hampshire Open Studios… we are open throughout the weekend from 10-5, finishing on Monday evening… tomorrow Lnn Onions will be here demonstrating hand quilting, Caroline Bell will be Eco-Printing to create more wonderful fabrics, and I, Susan, will be machine quilting and drawing with the sewing machine, the same on Monday and on Sunday it will be Caroline and myself … do come in and visit .. the tea and coffee urn is on and cake is on offer too …. something here for everyone … number 107 in the book

Today, Consuelo is demonstrating her tapestry weaving , Lynn is demonstrating her hand quilting and Susan will be in the studio demonstrating her machine skills in life drawing.

We are having lots of fun this week at the Granary Studio. It is open studios and we have had lots of lovely visitors .. A new exhibiting group called Room 6, who are loosely connected with the Eastleigh College degree I used to run, have their work here. There is lots of tea and coffee being drunk and cake eaten.
I am in the studio printing the panels for the Romsey Abbey exhibition in October, Caroline is eco-printing in the gazebo outside, lynn and Consuelo are stitching and wrapping, so, there is lots to see and people to talk to…
The teaching space is on show and hopefully people will sign up for some of our Autumn classes
There are a couple of spaces on the early session of Life Drawing starting wed 2nd September, more information on the ‘courses’ button here at this site…. I wold love to fill them because Melanie Rose is our visiting life drawing tutor and she is brilliant … dont worry if you have never done it before, she wil lead you through, so please do give it a try

well the work on the studio is nearly finished and it is looking fantastic, I am thrilled with it .. .the sink has arrived today and will be fitted at the end of the week… just waiting for the floor paint to dry …. if you want to see what we have been working on for the last month then please do come to our Grand Opening ..

if you want to make a day of it, there is the World Textiles Day in Wickham at the Wickham centre from 10-5…free entry! This takes the form of a marketplace showing and selling textiles from asia, africa and china. there are two talks, one at 11 and the other at 2 which cost only £2 each.. then you can pop into our studio on the way home!
