We are having lots of fun this week at the Granary Studio. It is open studios and we have had lots of lovely visitors .. A new exhibiting group called Room 6, who are loosely connected with the Eastleigh College degree I used to run, have their work here. There is lots of tea and coffee being drunk and cake eaten.
I am in the studio printing the panels for the Romsey Abbey exhibition in October, Caroline is eco-printing in the gazebo outside, lynn and Consuelo are stitching and wrapping, so, there is lots to see and people to talk to…
The teaching space is on show and hopefully people will sign up for some of our Autumn classes
There are a couple of spaces on the early session of Life Drawing starting wed 2nd September, more information on the ‘courses’ button here at this site…. I wold love to fill them because Melanie Rose is our visiting life drawing tutor and she is brilliant … dont worry if you have never done it before, she wil lead you through, so please do give it a try
We have some exciting classes coming up at the Granary in May… there are three very different classes with spaces left. Do keep checking back because we are adding courses regularly as we respond to requests from yourselves
14 May Know Your Sewing Machine (GS006) ….. this runs from 10.00 – 14.00 and Lynn will go through all the maintenance and functions for your own machine and lead you through some stitching which will give you all the information you need to stitch on your machine beautifully … the cost is £32.50 for this valuable class
22-23 May Graffitti Quilts (GS007) ….. this two day class begins with some drawing and design, both individual and collaborative, to create these fun quilts. the second day is spent free machine quilting, so, potentially depending on the size you choose to work to, you could complete a quilt in the two days … the cost of the two days is £90 and includes all paints and pens etc
29-30 May Print and Piece (GS008) ….. this two day class will begin with a day of printmaking through design and you will create a range of beautiful fabrics using fabric paint. The second day will concentrate on using these fabrics to piece a simple quilt top. You may choose any pattern following discussion with the tutor, from simply putting squares together to creating complex blocks or crazy patchwork. The cost of these two days is £90 and includes all paints and print media etc
The timetable has now gone live on this site! We hope you will enjoy the range of courses we have planned for you… there may be some glitches and we will be working on it for a while yet so please bear with us, but we wanted you to get this information A.S.A.P.
Looking forward to hearing from you…
Well it is nearly here, we have what we think is an exciting variety of classes for you.
Just uploading it all onto the side which will take a few days, but it is half term from our college teaching, so hopefully it will be live by the end of next week.
However, I can announce that we will host a grand opening of the Granary Studio on Saturday 28 March at 4pm. There will be coffee, tea, cake and fizz, and an opportunity to see what we have been getting ready, so that your classes can run.
The courses will start directly after the Easter break with the Day-a-Month courses starting at the beginning of October. We have responded to the results of the questionnaire and provided a real mixture of day sessions and longer courses.
We will be running a five day summer school in mid July which we are very excited about. So do have a look at the timetable when it goes live in a few days time, we are sure there is something for everyone.
Our new programme of workshops/courses starting in April 2015 at our delightful Granary Studio in Hampshire, U.K. In the meantime please enjoy our free taster sessions which you will find on the buttons at the top of this page.
We would welcome your ideas and suggestions for future classes and would be grateful if you could fill in our questionnaire which you will also find on the buttons at the top of this page.
