The potential of hand stitch and composition expressed through a  contrast of neutral cloth and threads

Experience level: Any

Class fees:  £175  A deposit of £90 will secure your place, with the balance to be paid when the course begins

Class size:  6 max.

Dates: Sat/Sun 18&19 May 2019   10.00-16.00

SPACE COMPOSITION APPLYING LAYERING SUSPENSION TRANSLUCENCY JOINING FRAGILITY RIGHTSIDE/WRONGSIDE INLAY SUBTLE SURFACE LINE RELATIONSHIP OF PAPER TO CLOTH RELATIONSHIP OF MARK TO STITCH

All issues to be rediscovered using traditional techniques as a starting point and as inspirations and beginnings………

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: ( all white or neutral )

-fabric of different qualities especially transparent and translucent (at least 10 different kinds- each approx. 25 cm x 25 cm- and smaller scraps/pieces… organza, organdie, crepeline, muslin, habotai, fine wool, crepe, tulle, and others ) You could bring extra pieces to swop

-threads of contrasting qualities…..shiny, matt, twisted, floss, fine, thick; not big quantities ( @1 skein/ 10 m) because we are handstitching but you can swop some with others.

-any natural forms, hand-made paper, lace to incorporate into work.

-needles, pins, scissors, embroidery scissors/air or water erasable pen for cloth.

Notebook / graphite pencil / 6b pencil / putty rubber / masking tape
