Description
Printed Textiles is an 8 session year serving a broad based introduction to the use of procion dyes thickened to create dye paints, and to enable a variety of printmaking techniques for textiles
Dates, please take careful note
This is a year long class taught over 8 monthly sessions on the third Wednesday in the month as follows: 14 October, 11 November, 16 December, 17 February, 17 March, 14 April, 12 May, 16 June

Information
This course is designed to enable students to effectively print their own designs in a variety of ways for different effect. each session will focus on a different technique .. but students are free to combine different techniques as we progress through the year. the sessions are focussed as follows
session 1 colour and fabrics, found objects and printing blocks
session 2 paper screens and masking tape
session 3 Monoprinting
session 4 thermofax
session 5 tray dyeing and shibori ploughing
session 6 free drawing and scraping. make screens for following month
session 7 Breakdown printing
sesion 8 wax resist and bleach discharge
Student Requirements
The studio is well stocked with resources which are available for your use. You should bring your own lunch as there is no shop in the village, but tea, coffee and biscuits are available throughout the day.
For the first session , all resources will be supplied
You will be expected to supply your own nattural white cotton fabric, prepared for dyeing… which is also available for sale in the studio
You will need a dropcloth which needs to be a heavy loomstate cotton, also available for sale in the studio
Always have a notebook and camera(phone) to record your work..
